HostAfrica Nigeria ("we", "our", or "the Company") is committed to protecting the privacy and personal data of all prospective employees in compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023 and other applicable data protection regulations.
This Privacy Notice explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your personal data when you apply for employment through our Careers page or via any of our recruitment channels.
By submitting your application, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Notice and consent to the processing of your personal data as described herein.

- LinkedIn or professional profile links
- Guarantor's details (name, organization, position, contact information)
- Employment verification and reference feedback from previous employers
d. Sensitive Personal Data (if voluntarily provided)

- Disability status (for accommodation purposes)
- Background check information (where applicable and legally permitted)
We request that you only provide information relevant to your job application.
When you provide personal data of a guarantor or referee, you confirm that you have informed the individual and obtained their consent for their personal data to be shared with us for recruitment purposes.
3. Purpose of Processing
We process your personal data for the following lawful purposes:
- To assess your suitability for employment
- To communicate with you regarding your application
- To conduct interviews and recruitment evaluations
- To perform background, employment verification or reference checks (where applicable)
- To maintain recruitment records
- To comply with legal and regulatory obligations
We do not process your personal data for unrelated purposes without obtaining additional consent where required.
4. Lawful Basis for Processing
In accordance with the NDPA 2023, we rely on the following lawful bases:
- Consent - where you voluntarily submit your application
- Performance of pre-contractual steps - processing necessary before entering into an employment contract
- Legal obligation - where required by Nigerian law
- Legitimate interest - for recruitment and talent management purposes, provided such interests do not override your fundamental rights
5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We may share your personal data with:
- Internal HR and hiring managers
- Background screening providers (where applicable)
- IT service providers supporting our recruitment systems
- Regulatory or law enforcement authorities (where legally required)
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties.
Where third parties process your data on our behalf, we ensure they are bound by confidentiality and data protection obligations in line with the NDPA.
6. Data Retention
If your application is unsuccessful, we may retain your data for a period of 6-12 months for future job opportunities, unless you request deletion earlier.
If you are successful, your data will be retained as part of your employee record in accordance with our Employee Data Privacy Policy.
After the applicable retention period, your data will be securely deleted or anonymized.
7. International Data Transfers
As a web hosting company, some of our systems may be hosted outside Nigeria. Where your personal data is transferred internationally, we ensure that:
- Adequate safeguards are in place; and
- Transfers comply with the cross-border data transfer requirements under the NDPA.

10. Withdrawal of Consent

- The information provided is accurate and truthful;
