Are there any characters I cannot use in my CSR? Print

  • 0

When generating a Certificate Signing Request (CSR), certain characters are not permitted because they can cause errors during SSL certificate creation.

Do not use any of the following characters in your CSR:

  • <
  • >
  • ~
  • !
  • @
  • #
  • $
  • %
  • ^
  • *
  • /
  • \
  • (
  • )
  • ?
  • &
  • ,

⚠️ Important Notes:

  • The asterisk (*.) is reserved exclusively for Wildcard certificate CSRs.
  • Do not include http:// or https:// in the Common Name field.

By following these rules, you’ll ensure your CSR is valid and ready for SSL enrollment without unnecessary delays.
