Frequently Asked Questions
Premium domain names are domain names that the registry (in this case the Nigeria Internet Registration Association - NiRA) have considered as domain names that have high intrinsic values. These domain names are managed by the registry.
Premium domain names may be registered during an auction or at an ask-now price? This ask-now price has now been reviewed from ₦1.5 million to ₦100,000
A premium domain name is renewed at 50% of the cost of registration, i.e. ₦50,000
Unlike regular domain names, premium domain names require manual intervention before they are registered. Once you pay for a premium domain name, we would reach out to NiRA to register the domain name. Such domains would be registered at a first-come first-served basis. It is therefore important that you pay your domain as quickly as possible.
If a premium domain name expires, it joins the premium domain name pool and is registered at the premium price by the first person to pick it up.
The price of premium domains would be reviewed to N100,000 by the 15th of November at 9AM WAT. Since domains would be registered on a first come first served based, we recommend that you pay for your premium domain name of choice to increase your chances of getting the domain name.
Unfortunately, no. The domain name request would be reviewed by the dotNG registry and approved between 10AM and 3PM every working day. We would let you know once your premium domain is fully registered.
If we find out that your premium domain name of choice is not available, we would offer you an option to register another premium domain name. If you would prefer a refund however, this would be moved to your wallet with us or transferred to your bank account less bank transaction charges
It is your responsibility to ensure that your premium domain of choice does not violate or contravene any third party intellectual property rights and any applicable laws under the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
